The past week revealed the top 5 online marketplaces worldwide. For the first time, both Temu and TikTok have overtaken Walmart to be 3rd and 4th behind Amazon and eBay.
The rise of Temu is not hard to understand. Much like Wish and Shein, it offers low-cost products. However, the one that does interest me is TikTok.
We have been helping clients with TikTok Shop for two years. Being a platform from China, it has had its issues with results, but now it is firmly cemented as a must-have platform as part of your digital strategy.
There are, of course, those who still believe it’s an app that the Chinese are using for spying. Seriously? This isn’t a Hollywood movie. It’s a platform that is here to stay and is going nowhere.
I have a private account on TikTok. I rarely post there (6 posts in 3 years), yet I have seen people become not just influencers but major players. One woman who began dancing in slippers during the lockdown became a multi-millionaire with over 3 million followers.
It can do the same for businesses. If you have a small business and are unsure if you want to stick with Meta (Instagram & Facebook) advertising or are still waiting for the results of Google or Bing Ads, I would say throw caution to the wind and try TikTok Shop.
